    Poverty Alleviation

Members of the Church sometimes donate their old vehicles to people who really need them to drive to and from work. When the donated vehicle has a manual transmission and the recipient doesn't know how to use it, I teach them how to drive a stick in the big parking lot of the Church.

My students and I had jumped through many hoops to guard this secret, keeping the vehicle locked in a truck all day and running rehearsals only after 2am in a remote parking lot. My students and I had jumped through many hoops to guard this secret, keeping the vehicle locked in a truck all day and running rehearsals only after 2am in a remote parking lot. One of the funniest memories was exiting the garage attached to the hotel; the attendant asked me for the ticket, which I didn't have because the vehicle rode so low that we had entered by driving **under** the entrance bar. I told him I didn't have a ticket and proceeded to exit by driving under the exit bar too...
