Microthoracoscopy: At the Cutting Edge of Thoracic Surgery
Two 2-mm microthoracoscopies were performed using two ports (Minisite 2-mm disposable introducer and Minisite 2-mm 0° laparoscope; U.S. Surgical Corporation, Norwalk, CT). A 47-year-old man with multiple bilateral pleural lesions had a right diagnostic 2-mm microthoracoscopy and multiple microthoracoscopic biopsies.

Dr. Carey has served as a member of the National Database and Standards and Ethics Committees of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and has served on the Society's Council on Quality Assurance and Patient Advocacy. He has managed quality improvement programs funded by private foundations, and has published papers on practice standards and processes of care in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.
