History

I started my generic property/casualty insurance agency from scratch in suburban Chicago in May 1975. The business written split between some personal but with heavier emphasis on commercial lines of insurance as an independent agent writing in Illinois and surrounding states. Significant property risks (manufacturing & warehousing) and commercial general liability were the agency’s primary specialties.

By the early 1990’s the agency had a national presence with unique insurance products & programs I authored and implemented, primarily for the construction industry. After becoming separately licensed nationally (all 50 states) as a “producer” and as a “surplus lines broker”, I functioned as a national, underwriting Managing General Agent (MGA) and Third Party Administrator (TPA) claims-handler as well as a surplus lines broker. In 1993 I personally formed and continue to own a reinsurance company which is still active today.

I sold my agency and national programs in 2005 to begin consulting, primarily as an insurance arbitrator. Because of all the attorneys I had retained to assist me with claims handling nationally over the years, I received numerous requests to provide expert testimony because of my experience in the P/C business at that point for over 30 years. I began providing property/casualty expert testimony in addition to my arbitration consulting in 2005.
