Ivy-Joan Madu, MD, JD, is a board-certified Endocrinologist who has been in private practice since 1995. Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Madu completed her medical education at the College of Medicine, University of Benin in Benin City, Nigeria in 1981. She then completed residencies in Internal Medicine at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in 1989 and The Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY in 1992, followed by a third-year residency in internal medicine at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY in 1993. Dr. Madu then pursued and completed her Fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1995.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Madu currently serves as Adjunct Nursing Professor at California State University in Long Beach, and volunteers at the Lestonnac Free Clinic in Orange, CA. She has received several awards for her work, including the Deans Prize for Best Clinical Student, the Professor Hill Memorial Prize for Best Student in Pathology MBBS Part III, and Distinctions in Physiology and Pathology from the College of Medicine at the University of Benin in Nigeria.
Dr. Madu is certified as a diplomate in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism from the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is a member of the Orange County Medical Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
