Barbara Blades-Lines is a Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (CAPP) as awarded by the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). She provides extensive Appraisal Valuation services on fine art property, antiques, and residential contents for the following purposes: estate, equitable distribution, divorce settlement, probate, expert witness testimony, insurance or insurance damage claims.
Ms. Blades-Lines has over 25 years of professional experience and education in appraisal methodology. She is qualified to execute appraisals that are USPAP compliant and meet IRS requirements.
Experience: Ms. Blades-Lines has appraised collections for the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art, Marriott Bermuda, the Bank of Butterfield, Norton Rose Fulbright, Peter Paul Petroleum, the University of Houston, and she has worked closely with the Bermuda National Gallery’s collections of furniture, European paintings, and the Bacardi Biennial.
Projects have included services for clients in Bermuda and all over the United States, primarily in Texas but also California, Massachusetts, Kentucky, New Mexico, Maine, Seattle and New York. Her experience with legal projects, were over Fine Art Property, relating to divorce, the appraisal value for a collection, and the authorship of an artist.
Education / Training: A native Houstonian, Barbara graduated from the University of Texas and completed postgraduate studies with Christie’s Education in London. Pursuing a career as an independent appraiser, Barbara founded Blades Appraisal Services, in 1994, Houston, Texas.
