Malone is a licensed professional civil / structural engineer with almost 20 years of experience in civil/structural design, forensics, and expert work. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where she was one of the few female graduates to receive a Masters in Computational Mechanics.

Over the course of her career, Malone has led teams within a series of private firms in the design, analysis, forensic investigation, and seismic probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) of nuclear structures, aerospace structures, commercial structures, industrial towers, multi-story buildings, and more.
