Stephen L. Nelson, MD, PhD, FAAP

with over 15 years of experience in Pediatric Neurology and Pediatrics
Dr. Nelson is the current Director of Pediatric Neurology at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, where he performs high volume inpatient and outpatient evaluations. He runs the pediatric epilepsy center which offers video EEG monitoring as well as epilepsy surgery. Dr. Nelson is also a full-time Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine. He holds a medical license in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Maryland and is certified as a medical doctor expert witness by the state of Florida.
- Dr. Nelson has been providing expert witness services since 2004. He has served as an expert witness in child neurology for both defense and plaintiff counsels in the military, civilian sector, in various states, and even overseas.
Dr. Nelson's services include Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and reviews, objective opinions, deposition, and trial testimony. His services encompass all phases of the medicolegal process, including evaluating whether the standard of care was met or breached, testifying in court, or assessing damages based on negligence and resulting injury. For defense and plaintiff, he reviews medical records for liability and provides expert opinions and testimony about causation and presumed life expectancy.
